I had a dream we were on a plane,
it crashed into the pacific in a way
that Amelia would've admired
The ocean's warm salt woke both of us up,
the current carried our bodies
to the coastline where we both left off

And now I realize something you always knew,
the fact the ocean's cruel
(It carries lovers away far too soon)
We've been facing out backs,
to the ocean sun
for far too long, we drift along

You must be quite though,
so not even the ocean can hear
Blue skies are covered by passing clouds,
by something so familiar
By something you thought you knew so well
(you thought)
I woke up from this dream,
I was left marooned at sea
The current came and swept me away to safety
(Its been so long since ive been able to breathe)

And now I realize something you always knew,
the fact the ocean's cruel
(It carries lovers away far too soon)
We've been facing out backs,
to the ocean sun
for far too long, we drift along

(We feel the, current's breeze) x2
Blistered and jaded,
broken and faded
we face our backs to the sun
(It left us, to see) x2
Looking to forget,
trying to just let
this sinking ship be done and over with
I can't stomach these waves,
they toss me for days
it's always quiet before the storm

And now I realize something you always knew,
the fact the ocean's cruel
(Looking to forget, trying to just let
this sinking ship be done and over with)
It carries lovers away far too soon,
you were carried away too soon
(Blistered and jaded, broken and faded
we face our backs to the sun)
