A still pond is rippled

By thorns from a yellow rose

Though now at the bottom

This creek runs gold

Flee to islands in the east

Before we back pedal too far

Dip our heels into the bay

It never bit so hard

Stand down my dear

We'll survive this one

Against all odds

I can't break this silence

Wide awake and lying

Arms stretched out in false pretenses

East pleading my case

Show me the way

I'll follow your lead

I'll be behind you

Through fire and frost

Dance the way the trees do

To the songs the birds sing

Very quietly, very silently

Run this rose across the pond

But don't get close

Grasp this flower

Hold it tight

Mind it's thorns

The bottom of the pond

With yellow rose still in hand

Hold it

Silently you sink

Though now at the bottom

My blood runs gold
