Album: Ballad of the Maida Vale

The sea calm, the cold like knives in our sides, our eyes bloodshot and wide as an open wound.
We stood on frozen feet and looked upon the sea and to our dismay it was no sunny day, but the clouds drawn over us like a blanket, over our faces, but still we bleed.
the ships afloat, we yell and we boast

and we saved our boat, we saved our boat, we, we saved our boat!
the heavens rumble with thunder, but there was no trumpet sounds.
we gloried our plunder, and satisfied our hunger, ignored the thundering sounds,
we cast our nets and didn't bother to check, if we caught anything, oh our stomachs were full,
but there was something in my soul that told me there was something here
something missing something to fear
but i joined as we toasted our boasts
we forgot that our lives had been saved
and that one awful day as I looked to my men and then to the sky
I knew, i knew there was some price to pay
i knew there was some price to pay
and as I looked to the sky and then to my men
and I knew there was some, some price to pay
but my men held faces of smiles, but the heavens fell
where are the trumpet sounds?
where were the trumpet sounds?
and we sang an old song, but still no trumpet sounds
we hugged and we danced,
but still there was no trumpet sounds, there was no warmth in our hearts
oh where were the trumpet sounds
hallelujah!
my men held faces of smiles, but the heavens fell, where were the trumpet sounds?
we sang an old song but still but where were the trumpet sounds
where were the trumpet sounds
there were no trumpet sounds
we sung and we danced but there were no trumpet sounds
where were the trumpet sounds
Hallelujah!

we forgot our lives had been saved,
from that one awful day, and i looked to my men and then to the sky
and i knew, i knew there was some price to pay,
some awful price to pay.

oh the man with golden hands and red fire eyes flashed across the sky
we looked over the side we heard .. we stared hard and long, hoping our eyes were wrong!

but we could see only gray clouds so cold we were lost and alone we had..
blue candles on a base we could not handle
follow the shadow from the light

turn
we fled from a fire in a rain storm
we left behind the water, the shelter
with clothes, tattered and worn
I could've sworn I saw the man with golden hands
oh how the collapse did go
the darkness was billowing in haste to overwhelm our souls
we all saw, we saw that man with golden hands, looking, oh he looked so sad.
we all saw that man with golden hands, he looked, he looked so sad.

we all saw that man with golden hands, looking, oh he looked so sad.
and the waves started again...
