Album: The Early Days (1917-1921)

Dixieland, you've done it now!
Hypnotized the world, and how!
With your raggy syncopation,
You've captured every nation;
Dixieland, you've set them wild,
But they are pleased;
They're ravin', they're cravin'
For your melody!

Dixie filled the whole wide world with rag;
Oh! Dixie gave the world a jazzy jag
Even kids just two or three,
How they love a jazzy melody!
Keep a-hooferin'! Keep a-hooferin'!
On land and sea!

Since those old southern tunes are such a fad,
Classic music seems to be in bad;
And pretty soon we're gonna hear Carus
Try to sing the Memphis Blues,
'Cause Dixie made us jazz band mad!

Dixie filled the whole wide world with rag;
Dixie gave the world a jazzy jag
Why, take a look! Little kids! Just two or three!
Oh, how they love a jazzy melody!
Keep a-hooferin'! Keep a hooferin'!
On land and sea!

And since those southern tunes are such a fad,
Classic music seems to be in bad;
We'll see McCormack, in the hall,
Try to sing that Strutters Ball,
Oh, Dixie made us jazz band mad!
