Album: Liquor and Whores

A mercenary traveled down a gloomy forest road
He pulled his cloak around him as a ward against the cold
As darkness fell upon him and trees obscured the sky
His warhorse screamed in terror when the wolves began to cry

A gypsy witch had warned him of the legend in the trees
And it happened in the forest deep that you had ever seen
With talons long as knives and fire in it's eyes
Who hunted men and ate their souls when darkness filled the skies

He'd never been a superstitious man in all his days
But her words came back to haunt him as he stared off in a haze
A wicked chill ran down his spine his hair stood up on end
He'd ventured in too deep to try and turn around again

So he tried to calm his running nerves and swallow down his bread
Since there was no turning back he'd have to forge ahead
He dug his spurs into his horse and bolted down the road
A blinded gallop in the night with panic close in tow

Don't get caught in haunted forest deep
When ancient evil's awakened from it's sleep
To savor flesh and season it with fright
Devouring souls under cover of the night

The branches tore his clothing and the cold wind stung his face
To flee his unseen enemy he kept a furious pace
In forest deep and all alone he soon had lost his way
And through the trees he swore he heard the gypsy laugh and say

Don't get caught in haunted forest deep
When ancient evil's awakened from it's sleep
To savor flesh and season it with fright
Devouring souls under cover of the night

We found his lifeless body slumped against an ancient tree
His flesh was torn to ribbons from his head down to his knees
His face was a mask of terror and fear etched in his eyes
They say on lonely winter nights you still can hear his cries

Some men say twas branches that caused his death that night
While others say twas gypsy words that made him die of fright
But I saw the horror on his face so heed my warning well
Twas ancient evil tore his flesh and took his soul to hell

Don't get caught in haunted forest deep
When ancient evil's awakened from it's sleep
To savor flesh and season it with fright
Devouring souls under cover of the night
